Art Journey of OZAQUES
OZAQUES is a creative studio and art ecosystem focused on the creation, production, and distribution of cross-disciplinary works. It was founded in 2022 by visual artist Muhammad Yusuf Awwaludin Rozzaq in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Rooted in artistic and design practices, OZAQUES combines an artistic approach with business strategy to create works that hold cultural, emotional, and commercial value. OZAQUES not only produces works, but also builds narratives, identities, and sustainable visual experiences.
Ozaques - Temporary Chaos Between Order (Preposition/On Going Arts Project)
Temporary Chaos Between Order is an ongoing art project that is Ozaques’ attempt to explore and at the same time examine human awareness of space. The exploration and examination of Ozaques gave rise to one speculation, that one consciousness followed the other; not only instincts that guide human behavior, but habits, institutions, patterns of thinking, and acting give an effect on a change—which in this context—the subject’s awareness of its space is influenced by other subjects and the objects in it. The achievement of this project is to understand how human awareness of space is through artistic values, which every day is always in contact with the pretexts of images of temporary beauty.
Ozaques x Ashley - Cogito Incognito (2021)
This work was done collaboratively by Ashley and I who participated in the Call and Response: Collaboration at a Distance 11 program facilitated by Shoebox Arts, Los Angeles. In the program, the participating artists did not know each other and were introduced by Shoebox Arts to respond to each artist’s work across disciplines. The practice of collaboration here is very simple but fun, because each artist has the freedom to respond to the work given by the artists who are his team. The freedom to experiment in responding to each job is something I learned a lot in this collaboration program. And the most important thing for me from the program is about social responsibility that is faced with space and time through technology. This collaborative process has given me a reflection on how artistic practice in contemporary art will be in the future. Is technology just a tool or does it open up the possibility that technology can be a perspective to see the bigger world, or both?

The Source of Creativity by Ozaques, 2020
This short film was created during the workshop “Personal Archive Narrative” for four days with Julia Sokolnicka in CAPTCHA Design Festival 2020 event. The materials I have brought to the workshop are archives of my habit when creating my art since 2017 till present. I have selected materials that are very close to mine. The things that are close to me are mainly about human relationships with nature or the social environment. The visual forms in this video might be so dynamic and have different emotions. All those visuals, sounds, and texts are manual and digital archives which have been recorded spontaneously, directly, and naturally based on my reflection of the reality. Through those materials and visual forms I imagine how to look at the documentation of events that are not connected to be connected and become a new meaning, especially the meaning which represents how my personality and subjectivity perspective can get inspiration from the source of creativity through my own experiences.

In a collective exhibition with the theme “Phainomenon”, bursting to the surface with a variety of language expressions to offer a fairly complex aesthetic in an effort to read the phenomena contained in a work. “The life phenomenon based on this artist’s personal experience includes two sharp upward and downward sharp blades. This means that humans as servants of the creator of nature / transcendental and humans as part of nature / social phenomenology.
Tentang Perempuan dan Batik di Era Digital
“Batik warisan budaya Indonesia, Proses perjalanan sebuah kain menjadi kain batik tulis yang tak cuma indah tapi penuh perjungan, harapan, sarat makna dan proses yang tak sederhana.
Para pekerja perempuan yang berdedikasi tinggi, pengaruh modernisasi begitu kuat sehingga ketertarikan anak muda untuk membatik menipis. Generasi penerus ada ketertarikan namun belum tentu mau melanjutkan.
Sebelumnya, batik kerap dianggap sebagai pakaian formal. Gayanya dinilai kaku dan sulit dikreasikan. Sinta melihat kenyataan itu, seiring berjalannya waktu dia mengkreasikan batik menjadi elegan, dan kekinian memadupadankan tradisional dan kontemporer.
Batik bermetamorfosa. Tak cuma dikenakan saat menghadiri undangan pernikahan atau formal lainnya, batik kini mengisi sendi – sendi kehidupan dan membuat batik lebih modern.”

Dalam pandemic adalah shock bahwa tiba2 semua sumber kami untuk hidup menjadi buntu, batal. Kebingungan dan stress harus bagaimana…? Stress yang terjadi akhirnya melewati proses, dimana kami merasa diberi pelajaran yang sangat luar biasa, pelajaran kepasrahan total. Unik pengalaman ini dalam COVID19 menghadapi pelajaran kepasrahan total tetapi kami hidup di dalam jaman yang serba teknologi. Sebenarnya pada jaman yang kosmosentris orang yang hidup di tengah alam, hidup yang menyatu dengan alam dan kepasrahan total karena memang itu keadaaanya. Jadi oleh karena situasi kekinian ini, kami merasa syukur bisa kami merasakan secara langsung kehidupan yang tumbuh bersama alam secara murni, alami dan utuh di era tehnologi ini. Tumbuh dan mengakar adalah sebuah konsep proses kreatifitas kami, Sebagai daya hubung kami dengan alam dan sumber kreatifitas. namun sekarang sudah bukan lagi konsep atau methode proses kreatifitas yang selama ini kami lakukan, tetapi ini merupakan sesuatu kehidupan yang nyata. Saatnya alam di era teknologi telah mengajak untuk bersatu melewati peristiwa ini. menjadikan hal ini kami lebih hormat dalam melakukan sesuatu. Kami merasakan bahwa tindakan apapun Yang Kami Lakukan adalah merupakan proses kreatif yang akan menciptakan sesuatu bentuk visual
baru. Sebagai contoh di rumah kami di dapur ada tempat sampah. Setiap kali masak kotorannya selalu dibuang di tempat sampah, seandainya kita lupa satu atau dua hari sampah akan bau mungkin tumbuh binatang binatang set. Siapa yang membuat bau busuk & binatang set itu… alam? ..atau kita?…..atau waktu? Berserah total kepada alam : Situasi yang memaksa kami harus berserah total kepada Alam ini merupakan ruang dan waktu yang sangat berharga sebagai peningkatan kesadaran didalam proses kreatif yg selama ini kami lakukan. Pengalaman COVID memberi kesempatan untuk merasakan, menerima dan membuka kesadaran diri terhadap harapan kebersamaan di dalam harmoni kehidupan merupakan sebuah realita yang harus kami sadari. Ini agar bisa mengucapkan kekuatan dan kebesaran alam. Ini juga supaya terhadap harapan kebersamaan di dalam harmony kehidupan, kami bisa mampu mencapai kesadaran agar ini menjadi sebuah realita.
